IIT Madras ranks second in the research category
The Ministry of Education today. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) emerged as the top engineering institution in the country in the sixth edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework i.e. NIRF released on 09. For the third year in a row, IIT-Madras has topped the list.

IITs occupy eight of the top 10 positions in the engineering category. The eighth and ninth positions in the category were registered by NIT Tiruchirappalli and NIT Surathkal respectively.
